Dust to Dust

The night time pendulum
Keeps swing swunging through stardust

The cosmic hands
Keep tick tocking
Grasping arthritic planets by their rings
and spinning them through
the clock maker's window.

He clears away the grime of the future
And sneezes,
Aggravating the misbalanced earth
Tipsy on her axis

Reaching into the stardust
He grasps the schizophrenic planet
By her ozone
And peers through her windows

Seeing we know not.

And the nighttime clock maker
Sinks into his twin sized bed and
Callls on soft sand
His cosmic eyes
Spinning through the grime of the future

Aggravated, he sneezes
And loses his balance
Tripping into the soft purple velvet
of accidental disintegration.

The Infinite Shower

Slippery soap suds
Sunlight streams through frosted glass
Shampoo, skin and smiles.

The Silent Chill Death

It's so very cold
In a house with no windows
In rooms with harsh overhead lights

Where socks do no good
And the winter seeps in through
The cracks in the walls, bleached white

The chilled ice sinks deep
Into fancies of sleepers
And burrows into ancient bones

And preys on the young
By plucking their tongues
Snatching voices where er' the wind blows

Glass Bottles

Lemon butterfly.
In a clear, blue bottle
Fluttering, sunshine glitter
On his wings.

Return.

If I could remember
The tender
Crocodiles' smile
How she engulfed me,
I might wait ...
To speak
To breath

But better worlds await us
In the glimmer of a turtles' gurgle
And I'm comforted by her leathery lips
Marbled shell

If only we could be
As good of company
As the speedy fruit fly

But I fear we are destined
For cheerful rebellion
Sharper miracles
And silver zebra beads.

Tunes

We don't know how
How to be cooler than cool
But we know how
How to pick a good groove

Gimmie some stumbling, silky blues
Or crackling, crumbling classical
Jumping, jiving jazz

Something I can tap my toes to
Hop a hoovercraft
Up to the clouds, looking
Down on
Jupiter

Billie Holiday crooning, baby.
She floats down to Andromeda
Into the fluffy
Star dust

She can hold her own
Angel voice, rollin' sweet like
Cinnamon sugar bagels
With extra cream cheese.

Scarlet

The Interior of the Heart
Gave me quite a start
When you said you would part
The seas

In order to be close
To the things you love most
A piece of buttered toast
And me.
